A popular and beloved deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine, illustrated by Steve A. Roberts. It is based on the Rider-Waite layout, populated with fairy tale creatures, angels, unicorns, fairies, mermaids. The images however, beyond the storybook outlook, are able to transmit accurate predictive messages. The cards are also an oracle, they have an essential word message and although many experienced tarot readers are sometimes put off by the concise written messages, I find them a good addition in this case, for a card reading with the Angel Tarot Cards seems to work on several levels: one is the classic RW meaning still applying; the other is the meaning as it is being described by the authors, their own vision of each card which is slightly different than classical Rider-Waite meanings; and the last one, which usually comes first during a reading, is the oracle message which I find is successful in sending the Querent a core message/advice. The pictorial part blends with the word messages in an intriguing, yet harmonious manner, and there is an additional layer of clarity with the oracle message.
I also like the many legendary creatures, crucial archetypes pertaining to psychological evolution and dream messages, such as the mermaid or the unicorn, and the plethora of animal spirit guides in this deck, and the lush, mysterious landscape reminding us there is always more to discover beyond a question (such as the reason we ask it in the first place) and that there is also much more to the answer and what we do with it.
